Biographical / Historical Note
Rock Valley College was established by referendum in 1964 to function as the community college serving Boone, Ogle, and Winnebago counties at a central location in Rockford, Illinois. The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Division was formally established in October 2020 by the RVC Board of Trustees with the adoption of Board Policy 4:10.260. Keith Barnes was hired as Rock Valley College’s inaugural Executive Diversity Officer/Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in June 2021. All material was compiled by the Rock Valley College Archives.

This collection documents the history of Rock Valley College’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Materials include Equity Reports and records of the Promoting An Inclusive Community (PAIC) Committee. Further accruals are expected.
