Finding Articles Outside of RVC Databases

When attempting research outside of the library's databases and catalog, try using the Libkey Nomad browser extension. Nomad automatically connects users to scholarly articles in the RVC Library's collections directly from the website you found the source on. Follow the instructions below to try Nomad now:

  1. Head to the LibKey Nomad download page and find your browser in the list at the bottom of the page.
  2. Select the download button next to your browser of choice to install the extension.
  3. Open the Nomad browser extension and find Rock Valley College in the drop down box under Select Organization.

Nomad is now installed and ready to use. Once installed, try searching for your search terms on Google or Wikipedia. Nomad will search RVC's catalog for academic sources found anywhere on the internet, including newspaper publications, sources listed in Wikipedia articles, and articles found on Google or Google Scholar, all of which normally cost money to access. If the RVC Library has access to it, a direct download link will appear on the same page you found the source on.
